Dear Fritz… November 2010

Q: What would you suggest for my holiday event décor?

A:Ahhh, holiday time… “the most wonderful time of the year!” … an inspiring, annual opportunity to create something FABULOUS! So I ask you… why do so many people recreate the same over-used event themes each year?!! Tradition is wonderful, but inspiration is divine! We hope you’ll be inspired by the following holiday color themes… inspired to think outside that proverbial box and motivated to wrap it up in new and innovative ways this holiday season!

For the traditionalist… “HOLIDAY JEWELS”

Jewel tones… the colors of real gems – ruby, emerald, amethyst. For centuries, these colors have represented wealth, luxury and special occasions. So, of course, jewel tones remain a holiday favorite! Take the Hollywood Regency style and punctuate it with deep, rich color (like a Red Velvet Sofa or the Jocelyn Lounge Chairs) and you’ve got an elegant color theme that will make your guests feel incredibly special. Using black or white as your base color palette, don’t be afraid to mix in a variety of jewel colors!… CALL US, we’ll help you! Silver and gold accents tie it all together like the glimmering polished setting of a magnificent bejeweled ring.

For the eco-conscious… “BROWN PAPER PACKAGES TIED UP WITH STRINGS”

Long before Julie Andrews reminded us with this iconic phrase, simple packaging had oft belied the true value of gifts beneath a plain exterior. With the current eco-consciousness trend, we suggest a holiday decor theme that creates a modest backdrop and places more emphasis on the underlying beauty of nature’s bounty. Reinterpreting “brown paper packages” as lush brown furniture (such as the Ultrasuede Cloud Sofa or Epic Daybed) gives you an earthy canvas to showcase the REAL COLORS of nature — colorful florals, fruits, greens, etc. Add some simple accents like pillows and lighting to “tie up” this theme beautifully. The song doesn’t say those brown paper packages couldn’t be tied up in vibrant, colorful, FUN strings! Let your imagination create an eco look that’s suitably festive!

For the rebellious… “EARLY THAW”

December holidays are celebrated around the world at the same time each year, but for half of the globe it’s summertime! So though our “EARLY THAW” color theme may seem radical to the Northern Hemisphere, it merely reflects our broader global perspective… beyond the winter frost lies a whole field of color possibilities! ORANGE and AQUA are our favorites for innovative holiday decorating. Try a white base color scheme and mix in some non-traditional colors (like the aqua Petrie Sectional Sofa or the orange Iman Modular Sofa). Wrap it all up with coordinating holiday ornaments or floral decor for a unique look that will live on as the backdrop for many fond holiday memories.

Water Heater RepairIt’s not the color of the ribbon that defines a well-wrapped package, it’s the style with which it’s presented. We at FormDecor hope that we inspire our friends to celebrate with style, and we wish you all a joyous holiday season.
